The Insurance Council of New Jersey will be hosting our Annual Meeting virtually this year. Plan on joining the ICNJ and our panel of experts to better understand the potential long-term impact on various facets of the property & casualty insurance industry and its policyholders.

Revelations, Regulations, Legislation and Litigation: How the impact of COVID-19 is influencing public policy discussions and decisions regarding insurance.

COVID-19 has put insurance coverage on the forefront of discussions among consumers, the NJ Legislature, the Courts and the NJ Department of Banking & Insurance.  These matters involve both commercial and personal lines, including:

  • Business Interruption coverage and subsequent litigation challenges (i.e. Optical Services, USA v. Franklin Mutual);
  • Worker’s compensation coverage eligibility, the expanded definition of essential employees and shifted presumption in determining where/how an infected employee contracted the virus;
  • Employer liability standards when customers become infected;
  • Auto insurers providing premium relief and flexible payment plans, while driving patterns and car usage change.

Confirmed Panelists:

Sal M. Anderton, Esq., General Counsel PORZIO Government Affairs, LLC

Robert J. Curry, FCAS, MAAA, CPCU, ARC, AIAF Assistant Vice President and Regulatory Actuary Government Relations Insurance Services Office (ISO)
